What is the highest number of babies birthed at one time by one mother?

    According to the 2004 edition of the Guiness Book of Records:

    In June 13, 1971 in Sydney AustraliaGeraldine Brodrick gave birth to nine children. Sadly none of them survived more than a week.

    There have been two cases of women giving birth to seven healthy babies at once. Bobbie McCaughy (US) gave birth to four boys and three girls. Hasna Mohammed Humair (Saudi Arabia) also gave birth to four boys and three girls Janurary 14, 1998.
