WOW That is a Good Answer! Thanks! I just have always hated the shot mainly and this dentist is already ticked off at me because I tried to change dentists i guess what scares me is just a matter of trust i need to get over, thanks again u rock! :)

They swab the gum with a Q-tip and a mild anesthetic before giving the lidocaine shot. Sure, it's a little painful, but it's much LESS painful than a lot of other things in life. Example: slap yourself in the face. It hurts, but you're probably not afraid of it, right? A slap in the face is MUCH more painful than the lidocaine shot. I'm just putting it into perspective.

Fear of the dentist is 98% psychological. You've heard the expression, "It was just a pin-prick." I.e., it was no big thing. Compare the injection to stubbing your toe, a bee sting, or cutting your finger. All those examples are much worse than a shot with a tiny needle. No biggy.
