Question

Help answer this question below.

How do I tell my Godmother's 11 year old daughter that I'm not interested because a) I kind of think of her as a sister and b) I'm 7 years older. Do I tell her the honest truth and risk hurting her feelings? I sure as hell am not going to lead her on.

    Yes, you should.

She's way too young for you, and you should tell her. She'll get over it.

    • thanks, it's just hard cause like I said, she's kind of like a sister to me and I do care about her feelings. Any thoughts on what to say?

    • Just say, "look, I care about you, but not in that way. You're like my sister." Or something like that. But I would also advise letting her know that she is too young for someone your age, as there is always the chance of her being this bold with someone who WOULD be willing to take advantage of her. You should explain that you're in two completely different places in life that she won't really understand until she gets to where you are, because of the age gap. But in a nice way, of course =)
