How do you keep a pumpkin from rotting so quickly after it's been carved?

    each night submerge it in a bucket of cold water - take it out in the morning and it will be fresh as a daisy

    • but your supposed to put a candle in it at night to be a jack-o-lantern..... you couldnt do that if it was in water now could yu... maybe lemon juice

    • Thanks for the downrate. If you were planning on carving the lantern and putting a candle in it and using it straight away for one night only then you wouldn't be concerned about it rotting - HOWEVER if you want to keep it fresh for a few days then keeping it in water does this. You can put a candle in it all evening and then when you go to bed - submerge it in water and it is fresh for the next day
