Visine with the active ingredient tetrahydrozaline will whiten the sclera of the eye by vasoconstriction. However, as with most pharmaceuticals introduced to the human body, with continued use, one will develop a tolerance and require more of the active ingredient for the same effect. With prolonged use, very little effect will result with use. If the pharmaceutical is discontinued, a reverse over reaction can result.
