Help answer this question below.

Is there any sugarless chewing gum that has no cancer causing sweetener such as saccharin, aspartame, etc.? I heard xylitol is a sweetener that has absolutely no cancer causing agents, is there any brand of gum contains all xylitol as sweetener?

    Aspartame does not cause cancer - see http://www.fda.gov/bbs/topics/ANSWERS/ANS00772.html and a lot more of the email/internet crap about it at http://www.snopes.com/medical/toxins/aspartame.asp . And here's one from Snopes about the Johns Hopkins "Cancer Update" - http://www.snopes.com/medical/disease/cancerupdate.asp , NOR was it originally developed as an ant poison - http://www.snopes.com/humor/iftrue/antpoison.asp .

    Saccharin has also never been found to produce cancer in humans - http://www.elmhurst.edu/~chm/vchembook/549saccharin.html , at least in the amounts you would get in processed foods (extremely high doses not-withstanding.)

    • Too many people believe the crap they receive in emails, and on non-medical websites. My uncle is a chemist. He would have told the family if either of the above are problems. Yes... He pays attention to FOOD, since he eats, too! ;-)
