Humming is perhaps the best exercise for mask resonance. Make sure that you have space inside your mouth, as though your have a soap bubble in there. And try to aim your sound into your cheekbones and higher, being, perhaps, a bit too nasal (it's always easier to back off on your resonance if your voice gets too bright than to add resonanace into a voice that is dull).

Note, please, that there are three kinds of hums, a hum being any sound you make in which your oral cavity is blocked, so the vibrating column of air comes through your nasal cavity and out your nose (hence, it goes right up behind your vocal mask). So, any of the three ways of blocking your oral cavity will produce a humm: M, N or NG. NG is a particularly useful one.

After stretching and doing breathing exercises, Humming is a great way to start making sound in a warm-up routine.
