Help answer this question below.
The reason I ask is because I often wished there were PG-13 Rated versions so that I can purchase it to own and share with my children with a clean conscience.
I do not personally like to watch rated R movies unless they are edited for television. There are a lot I would like to see, but I know are gratuitous in language and violence and sexual content, which would make just as good movies if they were edited down to PG-13.
I think that the Movie Companies should offer those options if they are going to re-cut the movie for the Unrated Versions or Director's Cuts... just to be fair.

What do you pay attention to during a movie that makes you decided it is good or bad movie. The plot, SFX, music, acting, dialogue, etc.

You're reading If there was a rated R movie you wanted to see and you had the choice of the following... which would you choose? A. R rated theatrical release. B. Not Rated DVD Directors Cut. C. PG-13 Rated Release (if there was one)
Comments
I think that there aren't edited, santitized or "dumbed down" versions because most directors have already had to make cuts for time and then they have to consider the target market and the rating system. Often, tough choices are made in order to get an R rating (over NC 17) or a PG 13 (over R). It is directors option to release a Directors Cut (it allows them to get their vision out there unencumbered by time and rating contstraints). But there would be significant time and costs to consider in cutting an R film down to PG 13 (and they had the option of revising it to be a PG 13 in the first place and chose not to). I do think you have a valid point and I am sure alot of parents would agree with you.
