Just comb the top portion of your hair to the top of your head. Then twist it (either direction is fine) and cut it off straight across at the point that is as short as you want the shortest layer to be. I learned this from a hairstylist, who gave me this tip so I could cut the layers myself whenever I wanted to.

    • You say comb the top portion to the top of the head. Which direction are you combing it to the top of the head?

    • the best way is to just let your head hang down and then comb it into your hand. Then stand up, twist the hair, ad cut.
