Question

Help answer this question below.

Third-party programs keep installing themselves on my browser, and I haven't opted to download them whatsoever. They all come in the format of a plugin to IE. I can remove them, but they keep coming back. How can I stop them?

Have you tried running a program called 'HiJack This' or 'Ad-aware.' The latter can be found at http://www.lavasoftusa.com and it's a free program. You might also make sure you have all patches for IE and Windows as well. You might uninstall some software you've installed recently, see if that is it or maybe go ahead and 'roll back' to a certain point when this was not an issue. You'll loose some programs, but then again that will give you an idea of what is causing it.

    • HijackThis doesn't block adware/spyware. Free version of Ad-aware doesn't either. How does removing other software help?
