Do female guppies have a gravid spot even if there not pregnant?

    Gravid spots are there from birth...they become noticeable around 3 weeks which allows for separation of males and females.

    However, the term Gravid is used in biology to describe the conditon of a female livebearing fish when carrying young internally. So the term GRAVID means PREGNANT and not just the spot itself.
