As a female (48) - I'd like to say thanks so much for having the courage, and the willingness, to ring them about your neighbor! There should be more neighbors like you...:)

Thank you Katy, the wife and husband got mad at me after and the man did not allow her to talk to me ever again. It was very awkward. They moved now, sad to think what might be going on these days.

Yeah...I know what you mean, sadly.
I'm a very big believer in the fact that ultimately, we can only accept responsibility for our own actions; we ultimately have no real control of how others choose to behave.
I also like the "Serenity Prayer" (that's the name by which I know it, anyway) -
Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; the courage to change the things I can; and the wisdom to know the difference.
I think that if we do something out of compassion/concern for others; then that is all we can expect of ourselves. Maybe what we do will make a difference; maybe it won't. The important thing is - we made the effort.
And, hopefully, even though she was no longer allowed to speak to you; the mere fact that you chose to make an effort to help her at all, will be something positive that she will carry with her for the rest of her life. It may also be the "seed", which over time, grows within her; and she may one day, find the strength to leave him.
Peace Truth and Love...:)
