If you have X rated movies I'm assuming that you don't have any parents like me who would've set the parental controlls and a passcode if I didn't do it first, and that these are undamaged DVDs.

What should be the problem is that the parental controls aren't set to your mature tastes. First once there are no discs in the xbox, you should see the "dashboard menu" (Memory, Music, Settings). go to settings, and go down to the parental controls; it doesn't have an X-rated setting, but instead 'NC-17' (the Xbox should recognize your X-rated material by this rating); now go to movies and set the marker to the highest mark there is (8 I think); once you go back, you should be prompted to create a passcode with the Xbox controller. If you can't watch your movies by now there is something wrong with your Xbox.

In that case you might want to call Xbox customer support (the number should be listed somewhere on the package).
