We miss our girl!

Question

Help answer this question below.

I have a dell laptop. I deactivated all of the touchpad settings because I use a mouse. Since I've turned it all off, the touchpad just seems to be MORE touchy when I hit it with my palm when I'm typing! Why won't it shut off?

I've never actually disabled my trackpad, but I've seen the options in some of the Control Panel settings. I rarely use the trackpad because I have a mouse, but I've thought it would alway be a good idea to keep it activated just in case. Like if you take your laptop to an important meeting (or whatever, something that you took your laptop for a specific purpose) and then you get there and realism you forgot your mouse/mouse batteries are dead/mouse has stopped working your laptop would be completely useless since the track pad has been disabled. Although I'm sure there is a way to navigate to the touchpad control panel settings using only the keyboard, it would just take much longer.

    • Well, my laptop is completely personal use, so that's not a big deal. I'm usually sitting in my recliner with it! lol And it has yet to go into it's bag, but I'd hope I'd remember the mouse and extra batteries! It's very annoying, though, when I'm typing and the screen scrolls up and down or my cursor disappears and I have to click back to where I'm typing. I had the touchpad shut off before and my son turned it on because "it's so cool to use it" and now it won't turn off again even though I have it disabled. Ugh!

    • Although it may look ugly, you could try covering the track pad up, but again, that would look ugly. Instead, you could get some leather gloves so you look stylin. The trackpad shouldn't have any response if your wearing gloves. The static charge in your body that works with the trackpad won't go through gloves. I have the downside of this when wearing gloves and using my iPod.

    • I guess I could try that. My dogs are usually the only ones who see me while I'm on the computer anyway! EERRRRR! Just now I was typing and when I typed the "y" at the end of anyway, the "y" ended up behind could in my first sentence! It's happened several times while I've tried to type this comment, and it's SO annoying!
