I've seen blindfolds (not blinders) on some horses, they're wrapped completely around the head, covering the eyes. Why would you blindfold a horse?

    You would blindfold a horse to calm it in an extremely stressful situation. Mesh flyveils, as mentioned above, often look like a blindfold, but the horse can see through them. I ride my Arab in 'bug eyes' because he shies (and I fall off!). That is a lycra mask which just pulls on over his head, and it has a roomy mesh shield over each eye. This keeps the flies off his face, but also restricts his vision just enough that he doesn't notice the horse-eating bits of paper or logs poised to attack him!
