You're reading Jesus never called himself God but loved to call himself the "SON OF MAN" and Numbers 23:19 clearly tells us that “God is NOT A MAN, … NEITHER THE SON OF MAN”. So why go against both and call Jesus God?

Hi mirigotquestions, how's the journey?
The term 'son of God' was in common use in those times and did not have a literal meaning. It meant a righteous man. For example John 1:12 says "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the SONS OF GOD" and Romans 8:14 confirms this usage when it says "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the SONS OF GOD" Even the word God did not always mean The God. For example Moses is called GOD and we read in Psalm 82:6 “I have said, YE ARE GODS; and all of you are children of the most High.” The Jews knew this but they were keen to convict Jesus of blasphemy. They said to him “thou, being a man, makest thyself God. Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?” John 10:33
You are right to be gentle with your nana. It’s not always easy for older people to change. Younger people are more energetic and ready to challenge. Did you watch this guy at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N48Ymna9q8k. If AB ends up corrupting the link then try copying and pasting this yourself www.youtube.com/watch?v=N48Ymna9q8k

Here you’ll find an overview of the marriages of the Prophet: Here you’ll find an overview of the marriages of the Prophet: http://anwary-islam.com/women/prophets-wives.htm. All together he married eleven women, but left behind 9 widows.
His first wife, older than him and a divorcee, was his only wife till her death.
His marriages were a special case for him, they do not set a precedent for Muslims.

Puberty has been defined by doctors as the time in life when a young person starts to become sexually mature. According to statistics, in general, girls enter puberty between ages 8 and 13. Doctors hold that in girls, puberty may start as early as 6 or 7 years of age, Of course there are exceptions to rules and there will be the odd cases of puberty starting before as well as after that age range. Studies also show that most young people reach sexual maturity before they attain emotional or social maturity. It is further reported that as they enter puberty, boys' and girls' interest in sex increases.

Aisha was the Prophet’s third wife and the only one that was very young at marriage. Her age at marriage is debated amongst scholars. There are accounts that say she was seven when married and nine when the marriage was consummated. These reports do not flag this as an unusual event, indicating that this kind of marriage did take place, probably in the case of those who attained puberty early. ...cont

It certainly was approved of by the father who would be the It certainly was approved of by the father who would be the person more concerned than many who comment on her age. Aisha was also quite outspoken yet there is no record of her objecting to or criticising the marriage either at any time during the life of the Prophet or afterwards. If there’s anyone who is most entitled to have the last word on the subject it must be her. She speaks of her marriage to the Prophet with great affection and pride.

What follows has been taken from an answer on AB by nowImconfused (could be a Catholic woman reverted to Islam) see http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/324571

Under 'Islamic law', there is no 'age' specified.
A girl must have reached puberty, be of sound mind, and she must AGREE to the marriage.
.
Some hadiths read that Aisha was 6 when she married and 9 when the marriage was consumated, others state that she was 11 when the marriage was consumated and some few state that she was in her early teens. Aisha had reached puberty at a very early age -prior to marriage.

And, as I recall, some girls I grew up with played with dolls up till they discovered boys -in their mid teens.

I'm not saying that 'it is ok or better that he had sex with an 11 or 13 year old'... But then again...
I know this sounds crazy to many people, especially by 'modern standards'... but, well personally, I WAS MORE THAN READY AT A VERY EARLY AGE, (borasalama: my capitals, and I think she means ready to marry) and had it not been that my parents were so strict (Catholic) I probably would have. And, I truly believe that my life would have been much easier and better had my parents just married me off. It would have saved me a lot of grief.
.
As for the Prophet's marriage to Aisha, I NEVER REALLY GAVE IT A LOT OF THOUGHT. (borasalama: my capitals, and I think it’s not a big issue with most Muslims either) Things were SO different in those days, and as we have seen there are disagreements as to her age.

Hope that gives you a good start. Take care.

Glad you enjoyed it. Islam is a huge ocean, you can very easily lose yourself in it and forget your other resposibilities, but it's best not to. So try and make sure your schoolwork doesn't suffer. Take care.

Ahhh... Thank you. Sort of like confirmation in Christian religions?
by SnortingMercury enjoys New panties on September 22nd, 2008
yes but it's much less ceremonial,
and you know how there's a long prep time for catholics to be confirmed (at least in the states)
it's not like that at al in islam
by miRi hates social norms and regulations on September 22nd, 2008
Okay. Thank you for clarification.
It's funny how incredibly uneducated we Americans are in the ways of Islam. All we've ever been taught is what our government and media lets us know. I guess if there ever was one deficit to not allowing religion in schools, that would be it. I think a religion class should be taught for at least half of the year in all high schools. Not promoting religion, but maybe clarifying religions.
by SnortingMercury enjoys New panties on September 22nd, 2008
oh i'd so agree with that
