What is the life expectancy of a goldfish?

    Average for most people who know what they are doing and have a healthy aquarium is about 5-6 years. People who don't really know what they are doing? 2 years. For goldfish that have good surroundings, maybe an outside pond, great care, they can live into their 30's. The oldest goldfish I think was over 40 years old. And koi, relatives of the goldfish, can live over one hundred years:-)
