    Twice, but in two different manners.

    The first time it's mentioned here:

    "...separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of.."

    And the second time Jefferson refers to a "Creator", here:

    "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

    • God is mentioned 4 times in the Declaration. Very clearly. 1. Natures God 2. Creator 3. Supreme Judge of the World 4. Divine Providence. If you read the Declaration, it is extremely clear to see that God is the one that is being referred to in each of the 4 references to Him. The Founders referred to the Declaration as the foundation of the Constitution, and therefore God is at the very heart of that document as well. The founder's actions speak even greater than their words. Many were Pastors, they started the Ivy League schools to teach the "Gospel of Jesus Christ" They attended church inside the U.S. Capitol for many years, took recess from Congress to pray and many other things too numerous to mention. The idea of a complete "separation" of church/state is a widespread MYTH, and any research into old documents easily proves this. Even the U.S. Congressional record proves what the founders discussed and believed. The Treaty of Tripoli is often referenced, but must be read in context (it was a TREATY to appease Muslim nations that the U.S. was not a threat) Much damage has been caused by the myth of separation. It has taken away religious freedoms in many cases.
