This is a very shallow way of looking at life, my friend. You're comparing murder and love? I hope someday you will experience what love is and realize that it doesn't matter who the recipient is, then you may understand that love is love.
by teknimage on December 9th, 2006
maybe...yeah...i don't see what is so bad about it...if they love each other whenever, but...it is a 49% to 51% thing for me
by Slipshod Wombat and Co. on December 9th, 2006
glad to see i'm popular to be "downgraded for an opinion, in which there is no "right or "wrong" answer.
by Slipshod Wombat and Co. on December 9th, 2006
Just to note, I didn't rate you down. However, I think people would be justified in doing so because of your stated equivalence of love between two people and murder.
by teknimage on December 9th, 2006
yeah...i thank you for that...but he was just getting the point across that just because something makes someone happy doesn't make it right.
by Slipshod Wombat and Co. on December 11th, 2006
I understand that. But, I think it's important to bear in mind that the what's really making someone who is gay happy, is that they have come to accept that fact. So many people live their lives both in fear and shame of what they have no control over. No one chooses to be gay anymore than anyone chooses to be straight. What one CAN choose, however, is to live openly and freely and not allow others to condemn you for something they do not or will not understand. That is the only thing about being gay that really makes one happy. But again, thank you for your thoughtfulness with this discussion.
by teknimage on December 11th, 2006
I, also, am going to refrain from rating this down. I think the point that making someone happy isn't justification for behavior is a valid one. I think that we should also remember that it is the effect an act has on others' rights and liberties (including the right to life) that makes an action unethical and illegal. We also should also bear in mind that simply because something has always been prevalent in history doesn't justify continuing it.
by AntigoneRising on December 13th, 2006
It's an opinion and not an offensively stated one. I don't agree, but I don't have to.

They are glued at the hip couldn't you tell, their answers are identical.
by Charmaine Jay on January 2nd, 2007
YES, anon, indeed there are many people in the world who feel gay marriage hurts them in no way, and leave people to live their OWN life...now all you do is make jokes about people when you have clearly not been able to intelligently defend your stance, I suppose it's all you have left though, so give me your best shot
by BobSaccamano-is-back on January 2nd, 2007
alright, thats a great...comment
by Slipshod Wombat and Co. on January 2nd, 2007
thanks for the compliment FreshApples, but I just want to make clear I was referring to Anonymous...because you said "alright," I don't want you to think I would talk to you this way, I am just fed up with Anonymous

Is that right. Did you know you had a fool for a brother? If you are going to let your brother do your thinking for you you are as much a fool as he.

by Miss. Tandra on February 15th, 2007
I agree with freshapples it should not be legal.
by Charmaine Jay on February 16th, 2007
I think that's a very dull example, as you cannot compare murder to marriage.
by Sociopathetic on April 1st, 2007
Is shooting someone consensual? We can only do the things that make us happy if we do not harm the other person. There are limits to our freedom- others must not suffer because we want to do something that makes us happy. That's why drink driving is a problem. Drink drivers may be happy on the road, but the chance is much increased that someone gets killed or hurt. A homosexual marriage hardly harms the other person because it is consensual- they both want it and love each other. Do you see the difference?
by Engeltje on April 1st, 2007
Those who are against gay marriage cannot use anything other than their own personal opinions and the preferred edition of a particular text to justify their opposition to gay marriage. Further more, I have only ever seen one (1; single; solitary) person here who could both make a religious argument AND consistently use sound logic and actual facts to arrive at his conclusion. While I still agree that this person has the right to make this spurious statement, I feel that anyone who cannot see the logical flaws in that statement should keep their trap shut to avoid embarrassing themselves! I would make ME happy to shoot a couple of people here. One for being stupid, and one for calling that stupidity "balanced". Well, I supopse it is balance if you consider that most of the pro-gay statements here are from intelligent people....
by 8 Jan 2004-10 Dec 2009 on April 1st, 2007
Phew, I'm glad not to be in your line of fire, jervinator ;) You are right about that most anti-gay statements are not very logic. Or perhaps, if they are, I have never heard them. I am very curious what the 'sound logic' of that anti-gay person would have been!
by Engeltje on April 1st, 2007
Actually, I only said that they were religious. As for their stance on homosexuality, I believe that if they had a strong opinion on this topic they would have already weighed in and both their religious stance and their intelligence would be readily apparent, if not glaringly obvious. Hell, he's good enough to sometimes almost convince me!

That is wrong. You know you can't take that back. As a good christian i know god is disappointed in you. As am I. Go fuck yourself.
by keelala23 on April 10th, 2010
A good Christian who tells people to go fuck themselves... How very Christian of you, let alone good Christian...
