My mom thinks I'm weird because I have a different style than she wants me to have. She makes me dress like a preppy rich girl. What to do? I'm 15, and sick of conforming!

We all have generation gaps. my wife and i raised our 14 and 12 year old grandaughters. we were 60 and 57, at that time. we had a generation gap that a freight train could have run through. but guess what, we all made it. we liked easy going music, they liked rap. i bought them headphones and saved our sanity.

Bottom line is this, you are not the only 15 year old with a generation problem. it exists everywhere. i use to dye my hair yellow, when i was l5. it was a fad. today, its ear piercing, falling-off pants, and lavender hair color. all to make a statement. its natural.

The only way to survive your clothes situation, is a compromise with your mother. wear what she wants during the week and you blow it out on the weekends. compromises work, providing you both stick to the agreement.

Give it a shot. whatcha got to lose?
