You're reading Why do they still use the term: African-American. I was born in America and Im pretty sure that Im American. I've never been to Africa I dont know of any family in Africa so whats the deal?

Caucasian is also misleading to describe "White" because "Caucasian" includes people who are, in no way, White. Examples are Iranians, Indians (from India), and *gasp* Rromani (we originally came from India).
.
I do not understand how, say, a Celtic person can be under the same ethnic definition as an Indian.

Oh Gods it gets worse for me. I forgot my Gadje side. I would be:
.
Romanian Rromani-Romanian White (whatever that is called)-American-Michigander-Jacksonian! I would have to break it down by "Romanian Rromani" and "Romanian White".

Caucasian is popularly used as meaning white, becuase people are ignorant of it's real definition. Which is more along the lines of Caucasoids share common physical features like bone structure, especially facial, and hair types. (this is what makes Indians,Celts, etc. Caucazoids) African implies african ancestry which actually covers multiple "Zones" that have their own "common physical features"...

And there are more countries than just the United States that can call themselves American's, since we do have Central America, and South America...technically than Mexican's can be called American's because Mexico is part of North America!!

I find this interesting because on forms in the UK, 'caucasian' is not used. Here, you can be White British, Black British, White - Irish, Other etc but not caucasian. I always think it sounds a bit weird on American cop shows where they say caucasian or African-American where we would just say black or white.
