Can I repair scratched games myself?

  My playstation 2 on some games will act like the d-pad is stuck to the right on certain menu screens. I have 2 games that do this and the rest work fine. While in playing mode of these games the controls operate fine. Any Suggestions?

  I left a game of mine on pause for about 4 hours and now the game won't work. I looked at the disk and there's a perfect ring burnt into the disc. The game goes to the loading screen but won't load. Is it ruined or can it be fixed?

  Two of my PS2 disks have been scratched (not my fault) and will not load. All other games work fine. I've tried cleaning both disks correctly, but they still won't function. Any advice, or do I just buy new copies of both games?
