You're reading Are Mormons allowed to drink alcohol?
Comments
My view on this subject is a little different. I believe that if all of our members truly followed the doctrine of the church, then there wouldn't be any fat members of the church. The reasoning behind no alcohol is anyone drinking it might drink it in excess and therefore be under the influence of it. The person is then unable to make clear decisions, and might do something stupid. Why is it excepted to use food as a vice? It is used the same way as alcohol, and drugs everyday and yet it is not talked about. I feel that it is up to the individual person, not the church, to make the decision if they should have alcohol. If you can't just have one beer, then you should not drink. But by that same reasoning if you do not have portion control, then you should seek help with your eating. My whole point is, to find out if something is really bad, then you need to pray about it. Thats the only way to find the true right answer.

Excuse me, I happen to know several members of the LDS church who are completley active who have a drink or two now and then. To say someone who is "COMPLETELY HAMMERED" might not be LDS is ludacris. The fact of the matter is this: to get to the highest level of heaven, you must go to the temple (ask any bishop)...to get to go to the temple you must be baptized and pay tithing (tithing is 10% of your annual income-ask any bishop)... so how do you figure that you don't have to pay tithing (MONEY) to get into heaven?! shoppingbaglady@yahoo.com
