    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

While some hybrid car manufacturers are moving toward lithium-ion power, the hybrids of today rely on nickel metal hydride (NiMH) battery packs. NiMH batteries use aqueous potassium hydroxide as the electrolyte. Nickel hydroxide forms the battery's positive electrode, and various transition metals such as zirconium, vanadium and titanium make up the hydrogen-absorbent negative electrode.
