Many dogs will eat just about anything. The blood, uterine tissue, and unfertilized egg that make their way out of a woman each month (and end up on a tampon or pad) can be mighty appealing to some dogs. After all, it is mostly protein. That doesn't mean you should let your dog continue with this behavior - A dog could easily choke on a menstrual pad or a tampon. Try wrapping your used items up tightly in toilet paper, place them in a sealed bag of some sort to keep the dog from smelling them, and take the bag out to trash can as soon as you can.
