Gordon B. Hinckley, Mormonism’s 15th President, once noted in a conference message, “Logic and reason would certainly suggest that if we have a Father in Heaven, we have a Mother in Heaven. That doctrine rests well with me” (“Daughters of God,” Ensign (Conference Edition), November 1991, p.100. This is also cited in The Teachings of Gordon B. Hinckley, p.257).

Mormon Apostle Bruce R. McConkie wrote,

“Implicit in the Christian verity that all men are the spirit children of an Eternal Father is the usually unspoken truth that they are also the offspring of an Eternal Mother. An exalted and glorified Man of Holiness (Moses 6:57) could not be a Father unless a Woman of like glory, perfection, and holiness was associated with him as a Mother. The begetting of children makes a man a father and a woman a mother whether we are dealing with man in his mortal or immortal state” (Mormon Doctrine, p. 516).

Just as there is nothing in Mormonism’s unique scripture that mentions God being married to a “heavenly mother,” there is nothing to imply such a teaching in the Bible either.

    • Shabba's comments lose credibility when he departs from the historical record of the murder of Joseph Smith, an innocent man who did not murder two men before the "law" stopped him, but was unarmed and shot in cold blood by a mob who also murdered his brother. That's pretty recent history. Get the facts straight.

Shabba does, however, have a point in that a large number of ignorant Mormons don't even know the God they worship, Jesus Christ. They fail to notice that on each one of our church buildings is the name of Jesus Christ and they ignore the many passages in the Book of Mormon that point out Jesus Christ is God himself come to earth to atone for the sins of mankind. They cling to false traditions instead of seeking out the Lord for direction. While Mormons have to admit Jesus Christ is Jehovah, as the church is clear on this, they often yet deny the power and authority attendant on this reality.

I can't tell you how many times I've been called a "liar" or a "troll" because I point out that Jesus Christ, as Jehovah, is the Almighty God, and that he is Lord of All. Other Mormons will say I'm not a member of the church because I acknowledge that praying directly to the Lord is a commandment. (This is found in the Book of Mormon, ironically, as well as in the Bible.) When I provide links to the prophet (Pres. Monson and others) talking about praying to the Lord and having his prayers answered, they want to define the Lord as someone as other than Jesus Christ. Unbelievable!

Come on, people! Mormons are Christians. Start acting like a Christian!

I'm astonished at the pigheadedness of Mormons who take this attitude. No wonder so many Protestants are confused as to whether Mormons are Christian.

There is, however, only one true and living God, Jesus Christ. The nature of the Godhead is clear in the New Testament, so arguing that Mormons aren't Christian because they know Jesus is upheld by his Father and the Holy Spirit is moot.

You could, though, argue that many Mormons are pretty lousy Christians because they don't even bother to develop a personal relationship with their God and Savior.
