A company is selling a surround system with a bunch of little cube speakers. How well do these work?

    These are not going to reproduce sound very well. Those tiny little speakers cannot reproduce midrange and especially low range signals very well, so your bass will be suffering. If the system includes a subwoofer, that's a slight improvement, but subwoofers only reproduce the lowest frequency signals, so you're still going to have weak mid- to low-range response.

    Good speaker systems will have at least two speaker sizes with one tweeter and one woofer, and many will have tweeters, woofers, and mids, in addition to a separate subwoofer. This is necessary for accurate reproduction of sound across a wide range of frequencies.

    • Size doesn't matter. If those are Bose cubes, you can get some awesome sound.
