Hmm... I've never thought about this. I think I would maybe like to get planted. No casket... use me to fuel the growth of a tree... maybe.

I want my remains blasted into space, but I don't want to be cremated so maybe they can cremate a Leg, and put the rest in a coffin

I had my cat cremated because I thought "I'll put her in an urn and she'll always be in the house with us". Now, though it's just an urn with her ashes because I see it every day. I don't feel like she's here. When I visit my father's grave, I feel closer to him than when I'm not at the grave. I think, however, if I visited very often I would lose "that feeling" too, though. The point is - the body is a shell, it has nothing to do with the soul, which is eternal.

Ya know I dont like any of those choices. I so dont want to be cremated, fire scares me. Being buried six feet under with worms and stuff grosses me out. But the lesser of two evils is in a coffin but its so hard to breathe in those and I hate when that happens.

First off, I want to donate my body to science... fiction. I shouldn't be the only one to get a kick out of it. But, beyond this, I want to be cremated. I don't believe I should take up space after I've shuffled off this mortal coil. Maybe have my remains sent into the sun for this. Who knows what it'll be like then.... I HOPE it's far enough into the future that I can't imagine what it'll be like!

Well, I would like to live forever and never contemplate the thought of death. After all, we were never supposed to die. Darn those two naked people, the bad guy hiding behind the snake and that one tree. I had 4 cats die from 2001-2005. The first one was creamated (I did not get the ashes back) and the other 3 were buried in my parents back yard. I did the burial because it was easier on me emotionally and less costly. I don't visit the graves or have markers on them, the cats became worm food. Me, on the other hand. You can burn me. The less money my husband has to spend on me the better. I didn't get all this life insurance on me so he could squander it on stuff he couldn't enjoy. I would like him to retrieve my ashes and not leave the container sitting in the funeral home for 3 years. Why take up space in the funeral home. Hubby's grandfather was in the funeral home until we went and claimed his ashes. Can you imagine having 3 daughters and 1 son and no one comes to pick you up? Kind of disgraceful don't you think?

I don't care as long as they check I'm dead first.

Cremated, after donating my body to a University medical school (whatever one is closest to where I am when I die). My mom did this, and it was meaningful to all of us to scatter her ashes in several different places that held special meaning to her - relatives and friends across the country (and in England)took part and it made the connection for us, how all of us loved this 1 person we knew.

As somebody else said cremated and scattered into the sea, that way my family can think of me whenever they see the sea, no matter where they are, plus I would get to float round the world 8o)

I don't know I've always wanted to be buried under a big pretty willow tree next to the love of my life, but I don't see that acctually happening so I would want to be cremated and let out over a ocean and thn have the love of my life do the same. I think it would be sweet! I'm weird hough so lol!

If I die the way I'd like to then this really won't be a concern because there won't be a body to worry about. If I die by some other means, then I would like for my body to be thrown into and active lava flow.

I'd rather be buried without any embalming, casket, vault, etc under a beautiful tree. Then, I can slowly become part of that tree.

I want to be cremated. I have this totally irrational fear of being buried. I am not scared of being buried alive or anything- I just cannot deal with the thought of decaying slowly or being in the ground when it's cold. Is that strange or what?

Honestly I have no desire for either one, not even after I'm dead. Seriously though, it really is all the same to me, it's truly not a concern of mine. If there's anything that still works after I die, give it to someone who it can benefit that is still alive.

I'm actually donating my body to science, and the place I chose usually keeps the skeletal remains for further study. But, if for some reason that falls through, I choose cremation. My first preference, is to be buried "unpreserved" in my back yard and to have a tree planted over me. This way, the nutrients in my body would return to the earth. However, since my state does not allow that, I expect instead to be cremated and have my ashes buried in my backyard with a tree planted over them. Well I know I would prefer to be cremated, but when I die I will have been "Alcatar, Earthlord" for about 500 years. People will probably want to bury me inside a massive pyramid made of black marble and granite. I really don’t care. I have already signed up for whole body donation. After that whatever is left can be fed to hungry animals. That way I won’t be taking space of burial ground and won’t pollute after cremation. My whole body will have some use for other living being. How about that?

Id prefer to be cremated the cemetarys are getting quite full,and after every 100 years some one else may be buried on top of you. Not only that id not like the thought of vandals breaking into my grave,and its dark and with the bugs.I know this is just my body my spirit goes up to another realm. To be cremated is much nicer,and can go back into the ground much easier and my loved ones could take me back home if they wished.

I think it should be a matter of personal preference without government interference. My personal preference is cremation for a couple of reasons - it doesn't waste space and it is less expensive for my survivors.

I think is a matter of personal choice. My mother hated the thought of being cremated, even though she knew she would not even know it was happening, she was totally against it. I don't care either way. If my family wants to save money and cremate me, fine, if they want to spend money for a plot to bury me, that is fine too.

Ultimately, I think it should be a person's own choice as to what happens to their body when they die. If they are anywhere near as neurotic as I am about the issue then I wouldn't want to force one way or the other on them. (For the record I want to be cremated and the thought of being buried petrifies me... no pun intended.) I think it's more sensible to be cremated due to the logistics of innumerable coffins filling up graveyards and health concerns in the event of large-scale loss of life. Still, religious and cultural beliefs play a large part in the decision and it's not something I feel I have the right to decide for someone else.

You could throw me in a wood chipper and make fertilzer out of me for all I care once I am dead. I am not picky. For those that have a preference on what happens to their remains, just put it in your will and leave funds to have it accomplished.

To make a decision where others values are important would require me to become judgmental and to consider extraneous factors unrelated to the question. If the deceased had no preferences, I would support the family in making the decision they felt at peace with. Before civilization intervened, nature would have had its own methods of "recycling" our bodies. I dread the day when this sensitivity or lack thereof receives any serious consideration. Because I'm Pagan I want to be cremated. My fiancee who just passed (Christian) was emphatic that he be cremated and placed in a teddy bear so that when ever someone wanted to be near him or have a hug they could hold the bear. He also said that if I brought another guy home he'd reanimate it and tell the guy "Get Off My Wife!". That's a Marine for you.

I want to be cremated. My parents were cremated. When my body is dead it doesn't matter. As in life, I am always looking for a good deal. Cremation is a good deal. I am an organ donor. Why should my children spend their inheritance on my passing?

I would prefer burial under a tree, without a coffin. That way, my body can break down, and I will eventually become part of the tree. That's how it was meant to be.

Cremation! I don't want my hair and finger nails growing for months after I'm gone, I don't want to be eaten buy bugs and worms and all that other nasty crap. Burn me and take my ashes and then bury them, thats they way to go.

i think its upto what ever the person wants. my nan and grandad where cremated because thats what they wanted and my mum was burried with my dads mum and dad. i often go past where my nan and grandad are but i feel different when i go to see my mum because in a way i know shes still there. im not doing a good job of explaining myself here but i think you will know what i mean. i dont see a problem with anyway though

He must be buried as far as I am concerned because burning lead to air pollution but burying atleast adds fertility to soil.

I plan to be cremated, because I do not like the way that our society deals with and profits from death. I'm a Medicine Woman and so I view death from a different direction than most white people do. I think it is a personal choice, however. My Mom did not want to be cremated because she had already been badly burned in a car accident in her early 20's; lost her husband, miscarried twins. Over 40% of her burned, had to learn to walk again..died twice on the table after the accident. I built her coffin, prepared her...washed her hair, prayed and burned sage. Some kind people drummed for her at the graveside, and a dear friend read her favorite passages of Scripture from her (study/working) Bible. She was an Air Force Veteran, so I received her flag (chose not to do the 21 guns) and also got some very kind words of comfort from the Gentleman who owned the Mortuary...and was the ONLY one I called that would allow me to prepare her and wash her hair one last time. (He regularly served the needs of the local tribes and understood and was also the most compassionate person I ever met connected to this industry...he was a real human being.)

It doesn't matter to me. I'm not going to use it anymore. I have toyed around with the idea of cremation, having my remains split into 4 parts, sending one part into the sun, one part into deep space, one part to be dropped into the ocean at a preset latitude and longitude, and the final part to be buried in the cemetary.

For me I'd prefer creamation. I just don't like the idea of my body (even tho it's dead, soul is gone, body's worthless etc) slowly rotting in the ground, closed off and locked in a box; having bugs feast on me etc, sorry for getting gross but it's true. Maybe I became turned off by some scenes in tv/movies lol, I remember one was a scene from a Jason movie when they opened a coffin and it actually showed the body decomposing with the worms etc, and once on a soap opera like 10 years ago there was a woman buried alive and the claustrophobia was scary; even tho like I said the body is dead lol. Anyway I think I'd rather be burned into a pile of ashes which can go to different places.

My bones could be donated. People could play a game like Jacks. Yeah, I could see how difficult it would be to pick up some femurs and the ball. You could throw all the bones in a pile and start singing: "Thigh bone is connected to the--Hip bone. Hip bone is connected to the---? Heck what is that bone connected to? This game sucks.

depends on your beliefs. with increased pressure on land, I think more westerners will opt for cremation. Then there is the third option: sky burial. The Zoroastrians practice this. The body is laid on a slanted slab, inside an open burial tower. While the fluids drain out into the ground, the flesh is eaten by vultures. In Tibet, the body is cut up and thrown to the birds. Cremation sounds great in comparison....

I would prefer to be cremated and have the ashes scattered - but I doubt there'll be anyone in charge of the arrangements who could give a rats ass what I wanted! I'll probably end up in a laboratory somewhere so they won't have the expense of a funeral!

Cremated. Actually, what I want is for anything that can be used to be used (cut it open to look at my organs, shove me in a car to see what happens when I hit a wall, whatever they want). Anything that's left should be cremated and put in a firework, so that at my funeral everyone is very sad then sees is and can't help but say "ooh look, a firework", and be happy. Everyone loves a firework and all will be well again.

I would like to be buried, because I don't beleive my cremation would help the current global warming problem. I would like to be buried in a very peaceful place with a good view, maybe under a tree.

I want all the useable parts to be donated, and the rest to be cremated. I don't want my entire body donated (like for research, or a medical school or something), but all the organs can go. Once I'm cremated, my loved ones can do with my ashes as they wish, as it will mean more to them than it will to me at that point!

I have donated all my organs and whatever they can use. The rest of me, I don't really care that much. I think cremation would be my choice.
