No way! You can still do many things with a computer, problem is, you need to obtain the software on a disc.
-
No you can do business work on a computer such as filing and creating spreadsheets. I do picture enhancing and photo repairs on mine. You can buy several games you can play. as well as organize stuff like recipes personal stories and poems. Just to name a few.
-
No. It seems that way at times, because it is a very important element nowadays. However there are many uses for the computer and that can be achieved offline, including music, the use of CD roms, games, keeping information, etc.
-
The problem with all operating systems is that if you DONT HAVE ALOT OF GOOD SOFTWARE IN HARD COPY your computer doesn't have any better use than a calculator. Unless though u know batch script and know how to make telnet communications to entertain yourself O_O
-
No. I can still use it for word processing, playing games, watching movies and listening to music.
-
No not at all. People can use photoshop, make movies, play games, word process, and play with paint when yor bored
-
There's stuff you can do, but like 99% of the time that I'm on the computer, I'm using the internet in one way or another. That 1% is when I have to type something up, like for an essay or a lab. And I'm on the computer way too much to make that a significant percentage.
-
It just depends on how addicted to the internet you are. I would consider my computer extremely inconvenient without the internet, but there are lots of other things you can do... like watch movies, play games, write, draw on paint, etc.
-
no if i had to write a essay or research paper by i hand i would prob cry
-
Nope, as long as it has the programs people need to be able to type, it can be quite useful.
-
Not when you suffer from a Sims addiction. I could live without the internet without it being to big of a deal if it weren't for work.
-
There are many useful offline functions for a computer - including Freecell!
-
No way, dude. Ever tried writing up and maintaining a Requirements Specification without the aid of a good word processor? <shuddering just thinking about it> . . <shuddering again>
-
Certainly not. I used one long before the internet IBM PS2, 640 K, 20 Mg hard drive, Used First Choice software for word processing and spread sheets. You needed to know a little DOS programming but that wasn't too hard. Then with software like Procom you could access bulliten boards and communicate with others using direct dial through the phone lines. etc.
-
Well Sometimes yes and sometimes no. It depends on what you are doing or for what you are using the PC.
-
Internet or not, a computer and it's peripherals are the most useful flexible items I've ever owned.
-
Gotta have my iTunes, photo storage, spreadsheet utilities and word processing. But internet certainly ranks as #1!
-
No there's lot's of stuff to do..like photoshop and games.
-
You can do word processing, use the calculator or play some games without the internet. You can buy software to balance your checkbook too.
-
No we use one computer just for simulations and many people use them at work, just for work with no internet access.
-
You're young. Surely you have music files on your computer that don't need the internet to play. Also, ever use a typewriter? Pretty antiquated compared to a computer.
-
No there is a lot you can do without the Internet, My life would be pretty impossible without Internet though.
-
No ! It wouldn't be useless. It would be incredibly boring though.
-
Well, not really but I'd go crazy with boredom. I mean I lost my internet for three months and my head actually started hurting...I wonder why...
-
Absolutely not! While the internet is a creature comfort a majority of people have become accustomed to, there are a million other things computers are used for besides just hangin' out around here! :)
-
No, I use various other programs like Flash and GIMP. It's better with the internet though.
-
If that's all you do with it yo...
-
No, there's also the 37 games I have on my computer, most of them are N64 emulator games.
-
It's just like using a cellphone without a card.Just for gaming and shooting pics.
-
Pretty much, i have plenty of games but that can get pretty boring after a while, i like going on AB :)
-
There wouldn't really be much to do except type documents, draw pictures and play games.
-
No I play a lot of games when my internet goes out -- Hi Zack -- + up
-
For me yes. Apart from uploading photos & the odd excel or word document I only use it for the internet.
-
Not a chance. Eeepc plaintext ftw.
-
Well, if nothing else, can't think how I would satisfy my instinctive urge to answer your question WITHOUT the internet.
-
i would be very bored without the internet, i put all of my music and photos on my computer, but that's it.
-
No, you can look at photos you've downloaded, play a game or listen to music.
-
Nah, computers have been around without the internet for many years. The internet is the baby, the computer/pc is the grandaddy
-
Not at all. There's SO much one can do without the internet. Sadly the internet uses all my available time and I forget to see what other amazing things my computer can do!
-
No, but the internet is useless w/o the Computer.
-
Not at all. There are lots of applications that do not need the internet. It is also safer as it is not at all likely to get a virus, and faster, as it doesn't need a constantly-running virus scanner slowing it down.
-
Nah, it's still better than a typewriter but with less character.
-
nah, a computer is not useless without the internet, but it is not as much fun, (or entertaining)
-
I had Macintosh computers for 10 years (1988-1998) without access to the Internet. I used the word processor to write a book. I used the spreadsheet to write a program to design blueprinted two-cycle pipes for racing karts. I used the drawing program to create all the images required for an investment strategy board game I invented. When I switched over to a PC, I played the game Half Life for hundreds of hours offline. Yes, there are lots of great things you can do with a computer offline, however... I can't imagine going back to the days without the Internet!
-
No way.
-
no
-
Yes, it is just like having no wife.
-
Almost.
-
no, there are thousands of non multiplayer games to get for a pc with no internet, but i can't stand playing games by myslef makes me feel lame, so i have to have internet
-
not completely... i do most of my work on it.. but i would prefer it with the net...
-
No, but it sure is useless without porn! ;D Oh, wait, you watch porn on the internet, so... O_O Oh damn that would suck! :O
-
or is the internet useless without computers as you can access almost anything via a mobile, home media PC or smart TV and a multitude or other devices but the internet is really no more than lots of computers linked together. OK so servers and mainframes and supercomputers aren’t standard computers but really a computer on it’s own is just as busy as it is online. You’ve got DTP, Games, CAD and other functions, in fact more computers are used offline than on (mostly for security reasons) and are only online for a short period of time (for emails over dialup for example)
-
A computer is perfectly usefull without internet. You can still pick it up and throw it at a chav. You can use it to smack a chav round the head. I've also found that a computer case makes a really good body shield when you need to go outside and stop chav's from stealing your car.
-
Nope! You can still play spider solitaire! =]
-
No, theirs plenty to do on a computer, without the internet.+5
-
A bit of history for the youngsters here: Computers were invented some 40 years before the internet (or ARPA net as it was called at first), and they were useful then too ;-))
-
Are people useless without relationships?
-
Not really. It can be used for playing games, music, word processor, movies, door stop, canoe anchor and target practice. The last three apply to my computer specifically. :)
-
No. I use mine to make shopping lists, create music videos, store my photos and music, and write stories.
-
Internet applications such as email, web browsing, online gaming and web search are probably the main uses of computers, but there are many important tasks that don't require the Internet, such as word processing, spreadsheets, database management, game playing, tutorials, music applications such as printing and sequencing, accounting, and many more!
-
No, but its usefulness is severely diminished.
-
no, you can still watch the porn you stored on it lol
-
You probably can do as much off as on. Word Perfect applications let you have a one man office from creating a will to doing spread sheets.
-
No. Almost though.
-
Pretty much. Without the internet, a computer is just an oversized typewriter, and without a printer, a typewriter beats it. So not totally useless, but pretty much.
