Give him/her a weakness

You could try giving him/her faults so as to make the OC seem more human. And try not to make him/her super powerful and amazingly pretty. Don't have the OC blatantly hate characters just because you do or base it on yourself. And try not to make the OC really likeable with tonnes of friends, maybe a few enimies (With good reasons for being enemies) would be good.
