The biggest difference is the backlit screen. Because the screen is backlit, it is much easier to see, especially outdoors or in a well-lit room.

As mentioned earlier, the biggest difference is that the SP comes with a backlight, so games are much much easier to see in any type of light (or none at all). The SP is also smaller with its folding design, making it easy to slip into a shirt or jacket pocket. The regular GBA is much bulkier in comparison. SP uses a rechargable lithium battery instead of two AA batteries that the regular GBA uses. The downside is that certain accessories like the E-reader may fit awkwardly because the cartridge slot is in the bottom instead of the top. Oh and GBASP costs about 30 bucks more.

Just one other thing is that if you don't want to waste the battery or its dead, you can just plug it into a wall outlet (if you are near one). with the regular GBA you had to buy a seperate adapter. So thats another big plus.

All right, here we go. I have a GameBoySP that is red and has the Pokemon Groudon on it from Ruby Version. I named it Chiquera because I like naming my possessions and Chiquera was the first new name I ever came up with. First of all, the GameBoySP is a GameBoyColor with a folding design. The texture is more sleek than a GBC and has closer buttons. The sound is unique in that the speaker is built into the space between the buttons. The sound switch is on the left side and the power button is on the bottom right of the SP. The Start and Select buttons are on the bottom, just like a GBC. Now, there are two things that make the SP unique and set apart from all the others. One is that the screen can light up by pressing the button on the middle top. This makes it good for traveling. When you are in the car at night, you can play it with the screen bright as day. The second thing is that you can charge the battery. It is a lithium and comes with its own special charger. If you were inspecting the GBSP before, you will have noticed two lights. One is for the power, and, when you plug in the recharger into the top right button (when looking at inside), the second light glows orange. That is when it is recharging. One more good thing is that when you are playing and have the recharger in, the battery charges up faster than you can use it up, so as long as you have the battery in, it will never run out. The GBSP costs about $100, so save up your big bucks and get one today!

The Gameboy Advance SP is smaller and more light weight than the original. It comes with a backlight that can be turned on and off during gameplay. However, unlike the the original, the SP has no headphone jack, and the SP doesn't take batteries. The SP has a tiny chip in it that can be charged. There are many different kinds of chargers, like ones that hook up into a computer or wall jack. My favorite charger hooks up into the cigarrette lighter in your car, so you can play and charge at the same time. The charger moves faster than gameplay, meaning that if you play and charge at the same time, you will slowly gain power. Also, the SP works like a laptop and the screen can flip up and down. I reccomend the Gameboy Advance, not the SP, because of three things: 1. The Gameboy Advance costs less than the Gameboy Advance SP. 2. The Gameboy Advance can charge and use batteries. 3. The Gameboy Advance has a headphone jack. Of course, the SP is great, too, it is light weight, more portable than the original, and looks awsome. I even had my SP tatooed.
