  • Brilliant everyone is so afraid on infringing upon other people because of race but lets face it just because you laugh at remarks made towards various races of people doesnt make you a racist people need to lighten up and enjoy a good laugh at one another
  • Funny of course! I'm not aware of him ever saying anything that is racist, except for the occasional dead Jew joke, but that's OK, 'cos he's Jewish himself. You have to remember that when Borat says something offensive about Jews, he's not poking fun at Jewish people, rather poking fun at the racist twat he is interviewing. So funny, funny, funny, in my book. EDIT- Thanks for the feedback rcasha. The point of him being from Khazakstan is by behaving a little bit backward, he reinforces the racists belief that anything different to the racist is backward. That's satire, I get it, and I find it funny to laugh at ignorant people. (The one's he's interviewing)
  • Very funny!
  • Hilarious.
  • I think he is funny. If I am not mistaken he is an Orthodox Jew from England, family originally from Iran. So, I guess if he talks about Jewish people, he knows what he is talking about!
  • YES...I AGREE...HE VERY FUNNY RACIST....
  • i thought it was down right halarious. i think people that take offense to these movies need to open up, and learn to laugh at themselfs. not being such a square.
  • Very funny, but there is a thin line between satirical racism and racism and he gets pretty close to it! 8o)
  • Racism and humor are two differnt things, some people are just too sensitive. Non-whites can get on stage and make jokes about white people all day long and people will call them comedians. Let a white man get up and tell a black, asian, or anything else joke and he is a racist. Whats up with that?
  • It was absolutely hilarious. I was laughing the entire time. I almost choked. No, I don't think it's racist. I think as humans we need to loosen up a little bit and everybody can laugh together about each other, without any hard feelings or fighting. It really can bring different people closer together, in some ways if you really think about it.
  • So Funny , hes a ledgend, he is pking fun at racists in such an out there wa , Love it .
  • I personally do not think Borat is funny. Sure a few of the things where actually humerous, most things where downright stupid, insultive, and rude. I think It is unfair how he tricked people to interveiw them saying he was making a documentary and then making fools out of them.
  • ONE SIMPLE WORD BOTH
  • Borat is funny. You have to understand that the majority of the racism in the film is anti-semetic; however, the anti-semetism is SO over the top it almost goes beyond racism into that realm of obvious humor....very funny movie. People need to learn to laugh at themselves every once in a while.
  • Hilarious
  • Humorous satire. The movie takes it over-the-top to make a statement about US while giving us a laugh.
  • Freaking hilarious. Out of all of the movies I'd seen in 2006, that and Little Miss Sunshine kept me constantly clutching my sides from laughing so hard. In fact, I laughed so hard I cried, most of the time.
  • Funny as hell
  • Borat is funny, and also educational. Cohen is not racist, but he brings racism to the surface and humiliates racists. The humour, however, is often crude. Though I should add, the notion of 'race' is a social construct. There is only one human race.
  • You have to understand that he does racist things in his movie to put a spot light on the ignorance & discrimination within society... So you know, the guy who plays Borat is a Jew... Yet throughout the movie he is having a go at Jews to see if the people around him join in ;) (For example: He says to the cowboy guy "Back in Kazakhstan, we lock up the Jews, and get rid of them", and the guy actually says back "Gaw, I wish we could do something like that here! Damn Jews!" <-- The guy who plays Borat does many racist things in his movie, not because he is personally like that, but because he is doing it to shine a light on how much of it actually still exists in society!
  • I think it is the funniest film I have ever seen. Mind you I have only watched it the once. Some films I can wathc over and over again - others I cant. Rascist - There are rascist jokes, but I think these are more to show that rascism is stupid. Borat does lots of anti-semitic jokes - bu the big joke is he is a Jew himself. In England we had a great program - Till Death Us Do Part, where the main character was anti black, anti-Jew, anti-Gay. The guy who wrote it and played it, was none of these. Some very right wing groups thought he was great - but the whole point of the show was to show how silly these bigotries are. It just showed how ignorant those people are that they could not see the joke was on them. Borat is very similar, only muh funnier. It did make me cringe many times... so it will not appeal to everyone. If you dont like toilet humour - dont watch it. PS I love rascist jokes etc. - I can understand why people get offended but that doesnt stop me finding the jokes funny. That includes Eddie Murphy, etc. poking fun at us "whites". However I have my limits - as some one previously mentioned - a white man poking fun at blacks just doesnt seem right, but the other way around I find more acceptable.
  • both but i love it
  • He is poking fun at the bigots by taking on the role himself.
  • Neither.
  • Borat is Halarious. His many characters and accents are just BRILLIANT!! His timing is also impeccable. I don't really pay attention if there's racism and just in for the comedic entertainment.
  • Funny as hell!
  • Just what it is meant to be, very funny. I don't think the ones who made it were thinking racism when they were making the movie, just a good laugh.
  • He is funny. If he's a Jewish man himself, why does anyone care? It was the funniest movie of 2006, hands down. In fact, I'm buying the DVD when it gets out.
  • borat, movie. borat, funny. borat, fictional character.
  • i havent seen the movie but he looks like a jackass
  • I've only seen snippets of the movie, but what I saw I would consider funny. I've actually spoken to people who don't seem to understand that Borat is simply a CHARACTER, and that an ACTOR is playing a part. They think he's a real guy!
  • Both. I'm ashamed? I haven't laughed so hard at a movie comedy in ages as I did with Borat.
  • stupid.
  • funny because sacha baron cohen is jewish himself so it's like a black dude dressed up as a white guy and saying the n word
  • Hilarius. A sadly realistic view of the America we try to deny.
  • I dont like the stuff about Jews...haven't they already suffered enough crititism and mockery? I think the whole thing is really funny, espesically the bit where he pulls a chicken out of his suitcase!
  • hes funny ...racialism doesnt exisist in humour .just a clever way off opting out off a joke.no more rasist than english irish scotch those jokes have been around for years no one is offended really cause its just a joke.get a joke book stop being so p.c.
  • Very funny
  • Funny! Most (all?) of the "racist" comments were making fun of people who make racist (insensitive, etc) comments. He also was making fun of stoners, hyprocrits, ignorant and dumb people in general. :oP
  • he wasn't being racist, just exposing americas flaws.
  • Good answer.++
  • I think it is funny. I do not believe that Sacha Baron Cohen is a racist. Perhaps "Borat" could have been handled differently, but I think at base it was just a funny skit taken too far, like many Saturday-Night Live movies. No one cared when it was a 5 minute skit on Da Ali G show.
  • Funny all the way.
  • I didn't like it at all...it was just another sad attempt at humor. I felt disgusted by it.
  • Comic genius! I never laughed so hard in my entire life. For those that think it was racist or were uncomfortable watching it, just keep in mind that the actor playing Borat is Jewish himself, and he wrote the movie... he's not making fun of Jewish people, he's making fun of racism!
  • So funny! :)
  • very funny
  • (funny)^infinity!!!
  • Both of Sacha Baron Cohen's creations, Borat, and Brüno, are funny because they hold the racist and ignorant attitudes of a good many people up for ridicule. By realizing just how absurd these attitudes are, we can sometimes change for the better. Hope this helps.
  • Hilariously racist - the character is so totally unPC; it is poking fun a t the racist attitudes of the day and also at those who look for the next thing to be offended by. It is refreshing that someone still has the courage to develop characters like that!
  • Very racist. Why do people think that a film is only racist if it makes fun of Jews? Imagine if someone had made a similar film, only replacing "Kazakhstan" with "Israel" and "Kazakh people" with "Jews", and it was made by, say, an Arab. Would people still be laughing?
