i usually do a salute
-
A blank check would suffice.
-
Flash your emergency lights a couple of times. That's how we do it around here. we can't see a salute at all times of the year as windows can get covered in snow and frost for several months at a stretch. I know professional drivers who do this. -- Perhaps I didn't make myself clear. The method is to turn on your hazard lights, let them blink 2-3 times and then turn them off. They aren't on long enough to cause other traffic to go into avoidance mode. Only the driver directly behind you, the one who allowed you to merge, will see them.

In Britain we sought of raise our hands and give a quick nod. Most other countries seem to thing we are flipping em off, but are to lazy to bend our fingers (well, that's what they thought in Berlin)
-
Look in your rearview mirror. make sure the driver can see you and .......WAVE. This works. i do it all the time. the response is always positive. Somehow, it dilutes road rage.
-
hazards
-
I just nod my head at them they uselly make eye contact with me
-
Wave to them
-
we usually flash our hazards a few times. but a quick nod and wave is always suffice if the person can see you. no one ever seems to show those signs to me though.
-
Just lift your hand up in kind of a Queen Elizebeth wave style and mouth thanks.
-
Here we do a little wave towards them with the right hand.
-
I give them a thumbs up (not high-five). And then smile a Huge smile. I have gotten pretty popular with it.
-
I usually give them the keys to my car, however, i only got to try it once
-
Wave to them, just make sure you use more than one finger.
-
I always just give a little wave!
-
A slight wave of a hand is nice but don't take your mind off your driving.
-
Give them a wave and maybe a nod of the head..and if they can see you say thankyou so they can read your lips.
-
Just stick your hand out of the window and wave. Some have mentioned using your hazard lights... I'd definitely NOT do that over here, apart from actual hazard, hazard lights flashing temporarily mean there an acute traffic jam just ahead of you... I.e. stay away while I put on the breaks.
-
A SIMPLE WAVE
-
tap on your break a couple of times ever so slightly so your ligts come on.
-
a nod or a wave. just don't get your you cut me off sign mixed up with your you let me in sign.
-
Assuming that the driver of the other vehicle can see you clearly, just a simple, friendly wave in that situation will do the trick, however, if you've spent a good amount of time out on the open road, you will notice that professional truck drivers, who encounter this situation dozens of times every day, will normally turn off their head lights momentarily to signal to the passing truck, that their trailer is clear of the slower truck and that it is safe to move back to the other lane. At that time, you will most likely see the passing truck either turn off all of his trailer lights momentarily, or flash his hazard lights a few times, as a way of saying "Thank you". If you're on a road trip sometime, and get passed by a truck...give it a try and see what happens.
-
flash one blinker quickely and the same with the other one. Thats how things work in Australia.

In the UK, the universal signal to give way, or allow another driver priority in any situation is to flash your headlights once. The exception to this is flashing your headlights as a large lorry passes you, to let him know he's clear of your vehicle. The universal signal of appreciation when able to see the opposing driver is a simple wave, whereupon the signal when the driver is behind you is more often to wave outside your window if save, or in your rear-view mirror. At all times your eyes should be on traffic and the road, and not fixing eyes. Be aware that use of your headlights in this manner is an automatic fail on a UK driving test, but is an unwritten rule adhered to by almost every motorist.
-
i give them a little wave ..and hope they can see it.lol
-
With a polite hand wave, making sure all your fingers are together.
-
