  • It turns out that he probably was slanted more toward the hero side, though I have no doubt he was far from perfect. The popular image of him being a villain who shot people in the back and enjoyed double-teaming in duels was primarily due to a movie which took great artistic license.
  • He was a corrupt,greedy,gambler,who was trying to use his position as a lawman for financial gain. He fought renegade Indians on the pioneer trails,and in Tombstone killed and drove out vicious cattle rustlers and criminals. He was an imperfect hero.
