Yup. Bus, plane, train, or foot, you'll need that passport to cross into the US these days.

No, you do not need a passport yet if you are coming by bus. You will need two forms of ID...one must be a photo ID issued by a state or federal dept. (drivers license)and best a birth certificate. I believe it is beginning in June 2009 you will have to have a passport. My suggestion is get the passport as soon as you can...it makes it much easier. I cross back and forth into Mexico at least once each month sometimes more.

What if your Drivers License is going to expire on the 7th and you already renewed, but you need to drive to Mexico in 2 days and all you have is a papers saying you renewed it? And what about coming back to the US?
