  • The UN is financed in four basic ways: 1. Each member nation (which, as of 2004, included virtually every country in the world except Taiwan & the Vatican) is expected to pay a portion of their GNP as a membership fee. Dues are charged based upon a country's capability to pay. The larger, richer nations, like the U.S., pay substantially more than poorer nations, like the Sudan. The UN, however, cannot force member nations to pay their dues. Many nations have failed to pay their full dues, causing the UN to fall into considerable debt. In 2004 alone, members owed the UN nearly $2.4 billion in upaid dues. 2. Organizations like UNICEF appeal for donations which are used to fund UN programs 3. The UN sells bonds to the private sector which has met with reasonable success. 4. Some countries make voluntary contributions to support various UN programs. The U.S is the largest contributor to the UN.

  • You have a good and accurate answer regarding how the United Nations gets the money it uses. If provided or not my the member states here is the information. The United Nations and all its agencies and funds spend about $20 billion each year, or about $3 for each of the world's inhabitants. This is a very small sum compared to most government budgets and it is just a tiny fraction of the world's military spending. Yet for nearly two decades, the UN has faced a financial difficulties and it has been forced to cut back on important programs in all areas. Many member states have not paid their full dues and have cut their donations to the UN's voluntary funds. As of August 31, 2008, members' arrears to the Regular Budget topped $919 million, of which the United States alone owed $846 million (92% of the regular budget arrears).

  • I always think that United Nations was created and financed by Rothschild family Since the end of the World War II. It seems to me that the Rothschild family decided to have a strong political base and support in the United States thus through this international organization then set up an empire around the world to empower and manipulate all the world governments?! Am I thinking too much?! Persia Barvarz
