ALL THE TIME! Lived in a small town, no tv, on a party line phone, my grandpa hogged the radio always, so what I did was read. Sometimes I'd check out 5 at a time. Loved them!!

Absolutely. Started with first one. Read that. Saved up. Bought the next one. Watched the books line up on my bookshelf. Loved them! Didn't find out that Carolyn Keene was more than one person til I was an adult. (Also read a bunch of Cherry Ames books too. lol) Good memories. :)

I believe all girls in the fifties did. That is when I started to love to read and loved mysteries.

The first book I ever read was a Nancy Drew Notebook, which is basically ND when she was younger. It got me to reading, I never knew what I had been missing all 11 years of my life, lol. I read all of the hard cover, yellow bound ND books the following year, I now own 72 or so of the paperback kind. I'm 16 now and not reading the series any longer, but I still like them and suggest them to other young girls as they are a much better read then some of these newer books. C

Oh, absolutely. And to keep all things equal, I also read the Hardy Boy mysteries.

I had a complete collection of Hardy Boys up to #43, "The Mystery of The Aztec Warrior".
