Yes! In The Dark Knight Returns (ask in any comic shop, they'll be able to help) set in the future, a girl becomes the new Robin after Batman comes out of retirement. Also, for a short period about three or four years back, Stephanie Brown became a replacement Robin, and apparently died after a short period of time.

Yup. Frank Miller wrote The Dark Knight Returns where there is a female Robin. There may have also been one in the "real" DC Universe. I believe it was Robin's girlfriend that took on the cape.
