As a laugh or as a punishment? In school or not? It all depends on the situation but I'd think they were a bit of a nutter at best, and I'd beat the shit out of them other times

A stun gun should only be used when a "real" gun could also be used. That is, a situation justifying deadly force. Unless my theoretically child pulled out a gun of his/her own, I'd probably sure the teacher and the school district.

Depends on who the teacher was and what my kid did... lol right now all 3 boys have good teachers and this problem would not occur. My oldest son's baseball coach is also the police resource officer and I can see the guys clowning around and doing it to themselves.... lol I coach basketball there and know that if the team got a hold of that either the softball team or the coach would get hit with the boys just playing around.

Depends. First of all, if the teacher wasn't summarily fired for shocking the student, then I have to think there were probably some extenuating circumstances. Perhaps you have very broad definition of stun gun. Perhaps the student was being a grave danger to himself or others. Perhaps this was an accidental thing in the course of some bizarre, but not necessarily unreasonable, course of events. If this was just the teacher getting kicks by shooting a student, or letting his anger get the best of him, then I'd probably do something about it. If the teacher was fired, then what more do you want? Do you wanna press charges? Depending on the circumstances on might go that far. Really, however, you haven't provided any of the circumstances and so all one can do is speculate based on possibilities or jump to irrational conclusions.

Well, I have two answers to this question: First, this could very well happen to my son in his law enforcement class and as long as I knew about it ahead of time, I guess I would be okay with it. On the other hand, if the teacher shot him, just because he is a teacher and in a position of power, you can bet that teacher is going to take a nap when I see him. That is if my husband doesn't get to him first. Then I can see a funeral in his future.

I had not heard this story, Sweet T....I must have missed that on the news. I understand that the student was aggressive, but who authorized having an officer with a stun gun on the premesis? Maplewood is just a few minutes from me. (and this was a middle school? good grief! what is with kids today?)

That is entirely over the top behavior and only a life threatening situation could possibly justify it. A teacher shooting a student with a stun gun sounds like assault to me... I would call a lawyer!

That ENTIRELY depends on whether or not they were a legitimate threat towards the teacher. I absolutely believe we have every right to protect ourselves from harm and if my child was tasered due to thier own threatening behavior then so be it. It would be unnaceptable for someone to live in fear of them. If my child was not acting in a threatening manner it would be completely different and they would be driving around in a BMW.

I stunned myself with a tazer once. I couldn't have imagined it would hurt much worse than an electric fence. I woke up a few seconds (or minutes, who knows?) later with pi$$ in my pants, a headache and the shakes. It is complete cowardice and lack of skill on the part of the "stunner" to use such a device on a child. They should, at very least be released of their duties, if not sued. If the person on the stun gun's trigger possessed any skills, aptitude, or natural ability, the student would never have escalated to this point. I agree that there is violence in schools, and that the person "doing the protecting" should have the tools to do that job. However, I also remember that those tools were typically: Talk and restraint. I guess we've forgotten how to raise children.

I would let my sister-in-law deal with it. She is a 20 yr veteran w/ the Cincinnati P.D. & her nick name in the force was "Taz With A Badge". She was suspended numerous times for excessive force & can beat the shit out of anyone, & I mean ANYONE.

God forbid if that would happen. To know what he did is irrelevant. I would be filing a lawsuit, indicting all of the public school admins. or teachers that were involved. I would also do my jolly best make damn good and sure that it was publicized across the nation. Just my initial thoughts.

The first question would be: Did he/she deserve it? What was the situation? If justified, they get punished when they get home. If unjustified, the teacher should be fired
