first get in there and do it everything that is in the way move it unbolt it set it to the side clean the mating surface either with gasket clean and if you want use the supplied gaskets that come with the new pump or the best thing to do is run an eight inch bead of silicone high heat silicone around the mating surface on the block put the bolts through the new water pump before sticking it up to the block and trying to do it then this keeps the silicone from getting messed up start a few threads into the block and use lock tight thread locker in the blue bottle make sure its the BLUE bottle dont use red. tighten everything back up and your set bud good luck the best thing to do is get a haynes manual or a chilton which sucks haynes is better more detailed
