• The development of new businesses will provide a source of employment for those who work in jobs that do not allow them to make a sustainable living. The construction of the buildings alone would provide jobs for some people. The businesses, if they grow, can afford to provide better pay for their employees, or the businesses will be able to branch out in new locations. Lacking viable alternatives, illegal jobs allow many people (in many countries) to make a fast living where they can support themselves and their families. Prostitution is rampant in poor countries, and with the spread of fatal STDs and lack of health care, children are born with diseases like HIV. These children are often the head of their households, or taken care of by women who then resort to selling their bodies, perpetuating the cycle. This is bad for the country's economy. Business alone will not provide economic freedom in this situation, unless it is coupled with education and public outreach services.
