How can I open up a credit card right now? I don't have any, and I have always thrown away the mail offers. Now I wish to put a small purchase on credit immediately. Help!

you can apply for credit cards online, however it does take about a week for them to send everything out to you. the fastest way would be to go to your bank and see what they can offer you. you might not even need a credit card. see if they can extend your over draft first as this usually costs you less in the long run, it also goes towards your credit rating and they can usually do it on the spot!

Why is it such a necesity to put a small purchase on credit? You shouldn't put things on credit unless you already have the money to pay them off. And you should pay off balances each month. That being said, why don't you just not throw away one of the credit card offers, and then apply with it?

Depends on the store you are going to purchase the item from. I got a Menards Big Card approval and charged right at the store in about 5 minutes. Others may do the same.
