  • Hmm, I haven't seen many with haunted houses as movies, but I've seen documentaries/reality shows. The two movies I did watch was House on Haunted Hill and Thirteen Ghosts. Although they are a bit gory. I think "Red Rose" was another haunted hosue story.
  • There really are a lot of haunted house movies. Some of my favorties are House, it has a lot of the same people that worked on the Friday The 13th movies involved in it. It's more goofy than anything but it's still pretty great. The Devil's Backbone is awesome. It's a haunted school not a house and it takes place in Spain. It's directed by Guillermo Del Toro and definitely worth seeing. Very creepy. There's always Poltergeist which mI'm sure you've seen. Coming out in theaters soon are The Orphanage and 100 feet. Both look decent and you can find their trailers no problem. There's a movie called The St. Francisville Experiment (?) I think that's what it's called. But it's a Blair Witch kind of take on a haunted house. And the last one I can think of right now is Burnt Offerings. The ending is absolutely insane and scared the hell out of me when I was a kid. I hope I was some help to you. Good luck!
  • The only one I can think of is "The Amityville Horrors." ...But I'm also not a big movie buff. :)
  • Alejandro Amenábar's The Others with Nicole Kidman is a very good haunted house movie. If you're in the mood for some laughs, the Scary Movie series is great. I heard that The Messengers with Dylan McDermott is okay, but I haven't watched it myself.

  • "The Haunting" (1963) - Much better than the re-make "The Haunting of Hill House" (1999). Possibly the best haunted house movie ever. "The Legend of Hell House" (1973) - Very atmospheric. A truly creepy score. "House" (1986) - A fun movie. Although it hasn't aged well, it's still a guilty pleasure. "Thirteen Ghosts" (2001) - Not as gimmicky as the original with a touch of claustrophobia from "The Cube" thrown in. Plus I'm a big Matthew Lillard fan. "Return to the House on Haunted Hill" (2007) - So-so sequel to a so-so re-make but if you get it on Hi-Def (either format) you have a "choose-your-own-adventure" feature that allows you to change the course of the movie many times so that you can actually change who lives and who dies. It's kinda neat. Hope this helps.
  • "The Shining" is a haunted hotel. I highly recommend the TV-mini-series over the Stanley Kubrick-directed theatrical film. Others have given some great answers - I'd only reiterate the suggestion of the original " The Haunting." Wow!
