  • Living is experiencing all that goes along w/ life. Existing is a step above death.
  • I think existing is like being in limbo between living and dying. "I guess it comes down to two choices: You either get busy livin'...or you get busy dyin'" - Shawshank Redemption.
  • There is no difference. As long as you have a body which is functioning in the fashion we call "living", then regardless of your subjective outlook, you are living. It is you option whether you find your living experience an exciting one or an uninteresting one. Any differences in individual experiences are the result of how each individual decides to react to the universe.
  • Life is not how many years you live but how you live. And that you determines how long you live.Great people live even after death but they don't exist forever. In short, existing is physical... living is more than physical.
  • i exist, others live :D
  • I became interested in this distinction because of a couple of sayings I came across. For example, Oscar Wilde said "To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that is all". I do not claim to understand the true depth of these words. But in short I would say that to exist is merely to survive in a purely physical sense, while living means having an independent ego.
  • Good question. A rock exists. So does this earth, space, you thoughts, and all living things. Trees, animals and plants are living. Anything that is anything exists. Anything that has life exists, but then I guess you can argue that anything is living if you look at it right.
