  • It's a mating and dominince(sp) thing. When mating season comes along he shows his feathers off to the hens, to show them how attractive he is. At the same time he's showing the other males that his feathers are bigger and more beautiful then theirs and that this is his territory and his women. Hope that explains it well enough!
