There are 2.4 times MORE registered independents (unaffiliated) than registered Democtrats in NJ. Independents **can** vote in the NJ primary. All they have to do is declare their affiliation with the Democratic Party upon presenting themselves at their polling place on Primary day. They then can redesignate themselves Independent by mailing in a form that is available on-line from the State at http://www.nj.gov/oag/elections/form_pdf%27s/Party_Affliation_form-11.1.07.pdf.
