Why is important for the resistance of an extension cord be small when it is used to power an electric heater?

Most electric heaters are not designed to be used with an extension cord. You need to read the user manual that came with the heater.

Smaller diameter (higher gauge number) = higher resistance Higher resistance = more heat More heat = higher risk of burning your house down Most heaters draw QUITE the amp load, so according to Ohm's Law (I = E / R)..... it is SO obvious to me that I can't complete that thought; Centipede's Dilemma!
