  • ๏ฟฝ๏ฟฝ๏ฟฝWhen weโ€™re talking about shoes at $14,000, itโ€™s the materials,โ€ says Michael Fink, senior fashion director at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City. โ€œLeather and the pattern and type of wood theyโ€™re using, the jewels, are the beads hand done, how rare are the feathersโ€“because a lot of shoes with feathers are using feathers that canโ€™t be gathered anymore, from the archives of the couture feather houses. โ€œRoger Vivier shoes have a specific curved heel, and the way it is attached to the footbed is very mechanical and difficult, so youโ€™re paying for engineering, too,โ€ Fink says. Randall has seen firsthand how using the priciest materials can drive up the cost of a shoe. โ€œMost beautifully made shoes are from Italy. The master craftspeople are there, and Italian leather is the best leather in the world.โ€ http://shoeblogs.com/wordpress/category/shoes/blahnik/ Side note - I think of myself as fashionable but if I had $14,000.00 for shoes I think I'd want at least 10 pair of shoes! Guess I'm not so fashionable after all.
