  • On arrival home it is best to place the rabbit immediately in the prepared cage or hutch and leave it to investigate its new home and give it time to settle. It will take the rabbit a couple of days to get used to all the new smells and sounds of its new home and it may find this time a little stressful. Therefore although it can be tempting to get the rabbit out and play with it, this temptation is best avoided for the first couple of days so that the rabbit can first get used to its new surroundings and feel comfortable. This will help to keep its stress to a minimum. After a couple of days the rabbit will have become used to its new home and will generally seem more settled and this is then the ideal time to start to get to know the rabbit better. http://www.petwebsite.com/rabbits/rabbit_arriving.htm
  • I would say about two weeks. I have had this experiene myself. I just had the bunny sleep in bed with me at night and let him explore one room at a time. Keep his explorings small so he does not feel overwhelmed. Aslo, if it is not possible to sleep with ur new buns- which it usually is- make suer there are lots of things to do for him/her in his cage. make sure you check on your buns periodically and talk softly to him. Leave ur buns in hiscage for a couple of hours then when he seems less stressed, open his cage and let him come out when he is ready. Doing this and coming over ot smell you means he is checking you out and if you are gentle and soft with him he wil begin to trust you! Good Luck!
  • it takes about a week for him to get used to his new home and it would probably help if you got another bunny but you should wait a while to see if your bunny is not so excited and looks somewhat depressed most of the time, than you should probably get another bunny.if your bunny is a girl she would be best partnered with a boy, and if you have boy he will be best partnered with a girl so that he won't kill the other bunny for comeing into his territory.

  • In about a week or two most rabbits are nicely settled into their new home. Getting a second rabbit will only delay and confuse the rabbit. Let it get used to you and play with you and spend time with you. Rabbits take a lot of care and attention to become great pets. They need to be neutered or spayed and you need to spend time playing with it.
  • Usually it takes a couple of days. Each rabbit has a different personality. Some rabbits love humans and will come to the door wanting attention the first day. Some take a little longer to get used to their new home. When you bring your rabbit home, leave him for a day to explore and get used to it. If he is a outgoing bunny, you can pet and play with him a little bit at a time, don't overdo it. If it is a reserved or scared looking bunny, give him some more time. Quietly talk to your new bunny and give him gentle brief pets throughout the day. This type of rabbit should come around in a few days if you are gently getting him used to you. As far as getting a rabbit a friend, if this is what you want to do, let the first rabbit settle in. When getting a second rabbit, let that rabbit settle in to before letting them meet. Bringing a rabbit into a new environment can be stressful for a rabbit without introducing it to a new rabbit. Also both rabbits should be spayed or nuetered, whether you get the same sex or opposite sex. A unaltered doe and buck WILL mate. A doe can cause considerable damage to a buck if she doesn't want his company. Two unaltered bucks will fight. Two unaltered does may fight at different times due to hormonal issues around breeding season even if they are siblings. Introduce your new bunnies slowly. Hope this helps.
