They don't, strictly speaking. But I believe they tend to do so more often than not because a) it's something to share in common, which we all desire in a partner and b) it's more practical to have two people pool their paparazzi defenses than to bring some poor unaware schlub into the cesspool of celebrity lifestyle.

I've seen many celebrities in person. Los Angeles, New York City and Miami are some of the cities that boasts many opulent neighborhoods, catering to the rich and famous. Celebrities will hang out with common folks, but they do not make friends with strangers who approach them as fans.
